Join Anastasia at her unique Berkeley studio and immerse yourself in handmade ceramics. In this class, we’ll be designing our own project briefs and creating beautiful objects with clay. Projects will be individualized, so come with ideas of what you would like to create: sculptural objects, tile, tableware, dinnerware, vases and vessels, wall artwork, or pendants. Anything you dream up, Anastasia will help guide you to create!

This course is for the beginner to intermediate ceramic artist wanting to take their creativity and skills further with guidance from one of the Bay Area’s leading ceramic artists.

What’s Included

  • Hands on instruction in a bright and clean studio

  • Hand tools, sponges, molds, formers, banding wheels, plaster molds, textures, and lots of other unique hand building tools are provided.

  • Gorgeous collection of glazes and underglazes to finish your pieces

  • 12Ib bag of clay per student.

  • Generous shelving space to store your in-progress work and materials

  • Firing of your work made during class (max 3 cubic feet per student)

  • Open studio hours every week

Bring to Class

  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, closed toed shoes

  • Specialty Cone 5/6 glazes or tools

  • One or two project ideas!

Cancellations

All sales are final. No cancellations, returns, or refunds will be granted. You may find a friend to substitute your spot in class. Please handle the payment privately, and send new student contact information to art@anastasiatumanova.com to complete the exchange. Please note a minimum of 5 people is required for this class to run. If you’ve enrolled and we don’t reach the minimum you will be issued a full refund.

Student Agreement

You’ll be asked to sign a standard liability waiver and student agreement, which go over studio policies so we’re on the same page with studio best practices and safety protocols.

Missed Classes
Students who miss class may come to an open studio to makeup their absence. Repeated tardiness or missed classes are 100% the responsibility of the student and will not be accommodated.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Anastasia Tumanova is a ceramic artist working in Berkeley, California. She has worked with clay since 2004, creating everything from traditional tableware, wall artwork, jewelry, large-scale ceramic installations, and sculpture. Anastasia has taught ceramics at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level at The Berkeley Potters Studio, Dusted & Blue Studio, The Hamlin School San Francisco, and Clay Room San Francisco. Her work has been shown at West Coast Craft, Minnesota Street Project, Rare Device, Oakland First Friday, and Heron Arts. Her ceramic artworks have been collected by private collectors and clients such as Google, Disney World, SFMOMA, Virgin Hotels, and others. Anastasia regularly collaborates on high end art projects with interior designers and the art consultant world to create incredible ceramic design. Anastasia holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
